High School 9:12 Launches High School Roundup in Partnership with WJXT

Weekly television show and tailgate tour to highlight the local prep scene

A brand new television show highlighting high school sports on the First Coast is coming to CW17 every Saturday morning and Sunday night beginning Sept. 12.

High School 9:12 Roundup, a 30-minute television show will air each Saturday morning at 11:30am, will take viewers inside the world of local high school athletics, as well as on the sidelines for high school football games played on the First Coast. A re-air of the show will be broadcast Sunday at midnight after each Sunday SportsZone on Channel 4 The Local Station .

The show, hosted by local broadcast veteran Terry Norvelle and News4JAX Sports Editor Justin Barney, will be recorded from a high school sporting even every week, including from the sidelines of a local high school football game each week during football season.

“Thanks to our partnership with Channel 4 The Local Station, we are proud to create this new platform to elevate high school sports and find special interest stories in the high school space,” said High School 9:12 Executive Director Alan Verlander. “The tailgate tour that comes with the High School 9:12 Roundup is going to be a fun concept that creates a unique environment that will make these games have the feel of a big-time event.”

But the show will be about more than football. Reporter Kaley Whitehead takes viewers behind the scenes with features on every sport played on the high school scene on the First Coast, with features, interviews and storylines you only see at the high school level.

The show is a collaborative effort between High School 9:12, the highly regarded local initiative that aids area students in preparation for college, life, and so much more, and WJXT Channel 4 The Local Station, the partner station of CW17.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to continue our commitment to covering high school sports and epitomizes being the only truly local television station in Jacksonville,” said Channel 4 Vice President and General Manager Bob Ellis. “The High School 9:12 Roundup will be a must-watch show for local sports fans and will highlight the amazing s young people in our community.”
